By definition, RipRoar is exciting. It's loud, it's engaging, it's 'full of energy and vigor'.
RipRoar represents the moment a child runs through our finish line, full of pride and accomplishment and unleashes their wild on the world.
RipRoar is an X-Factor that our team brings to events. It is our passion to create moments of transformation for kids by creating a stage for them to shine.
It's what we want to see more of in our communities and in the next generation.
We believe in safe but challenging events that teach tenacity, grit and the limitlessness of self.
We believe that competition, whether with others or with oneself, is valuable not divisive.
We believe that every finish line is an opportunity to hook kids on the thrill of achieving difficult feats.
We believe that every child can succeed in our triathlons regardless of talent, training, or quality of equipment.
Over the past 5 years Michael has directed and produced more youth triathlons than anyone else in the US. He created RipRoar out of an emerging need throughout the Midwest for competitive youth triathlons after previous events were discontinued. Prior to starting RipRoar Michael was the director of the Hy-Vee IronKids Series, the IronKids National Championships, and the Hy-Vee Kids Fit Triathlon Series.
In addition to directing events Michael is a nationally recognized sports announcer. His professional resume includes marquee events such as The Island House Triathlon, The Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon and San Fransisco's Zappo's Bay To Breakers. He is the Executive Director of a Des Moines based non-profit called The Youth Tribe, aimed at educating youth on the benefits of multi-sport and healthy lifestyles. Beyond triathlon, Michael can be found with a plane ticket in his hand, a pop song in his head, and an adventure up his sleeve.
